정의지 초대개인전 《Querencia-기억 이음》

버려진 사물에는 여전히 누군가의 삶과 시간이 머물러 있습니다. 작가는 버려진 양은냄비와 알루 미늄 캔에 남겨진 흔적을 따라 금속을 자르고 두드리고 이어 붙이며 새로운 생명의 형상을 빚어 냅니다.
작품에 등장하는 호랑이와 표범을 비롯한 동물들은 소멸과 생성, 상실과 회복이 맞닿는 순간을 품고 있습니다. 서로 다른 재료와 시간의 흔적은 하나의 형상 안에서 어우러지고, 그 안에 깃든 기억은 새로운 모습으로 이어집니다.
‘Querencia’는 온전히 머물며 위로와 힘을 얻는 안식처를 뜻합니다. 작가에게 작업은 사물이 지나 온 시간을 보듬고 자신의 기억을 다독이며, 다시 살아갈 온기를 발견하는 과정입니다.
이번 전시 《Querencia-기억 이음》이 사라진 것들의 흔적을 따뜻하게 어루만지고, 상실과 회복, 과 거와 현재가 함께 머무는 작은 안식처가 되기를 바랍니다.
Discarded objects still hold memories of people’s lives. The artist uses old aluminum pots and cans, cutting, hammering, and joining the metal pieces to create new forms of life.
Tigers, leopards, and other animals in her works represent new beginnings, healing, and the strength to overcome loss. Different materials and traces of time come together in each sculpture, allowing old memories to live on in new forms.
‘Querencia’ means a safe place where we can find comfort and strength. For the artist, making art is a way to care for the past of these objects, reflect on her own memories, and find warmth and hope for the future.
Through 《Querencia – The Link of Memory》, the artist hopes to gently bring new life to things left behind and create a place where past and present, loss and healing, can come together in peace.
